Rotherham ASD Parent Training Programme

 

The Programme consists of 6 workshops each covering a different aspect of Autism / Asperger’s Syndrome.
Each workshop lasts approximately 2 hours and will be delivered once a fortnight. Topics covered include:

Understanding Autism

Communication and Interaction
Analysing Behaviour (Practical Strategies
The Social World (Social Skills/Social Stories)

Problem Solving: Common Issue
Moving On (Support Services, Transition)

The programme will be delivered by professionals from a range of agencies including: Educational Psychology, S.T.E.P.S, C.A.M.H.S., Autism Communication Team, Speech and Language Therapy & Specialist Support Team.

The Autism Helpline: For people with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, family members and carers, offering impartial and confidential advice, information and support around autism and related issues, including local support and services, diagnosis, early intervention, therapies and behaviour management. People can also book telephone appointments with our Welfare Rights and Community Care services via the Autism Helpline.

NAS Welfare Rights Service: Providing advice, information and support on all aspects of social security benefit entitlement. This includes advice on benefit entitlement, general advice on completing claim forms, what to do if a decision is wrong and how to appeal to a tribunal

NAS Community Care Service: Providing advice and information on accessing support from local authorities and health services, Individual and Personal Budgets, transition, support and care plans, and how to make complaints.

NAS Parent to Parent Service: Our confidential telephone service providing emotional support for parents and carers of an adult or child on the autism spectrum. A message can be left on the 24 hour answer phone and a volunteer will then call back as soon as possible, at a time which suits, including evenings and weekends

 NAS Education Rights Service: Providing advice and support on educational provision and entitlements throughout the UK. Our trained volunteers will guide parents and carers through education law and support them through what can often be a complex and difficult process. They also help parents prepare appeals to educational tribunals.

Fortnightly Bowling

 

Time 5.30pm meet to bowl at 5.45pm

It is for one game of bowling and a children's meal.

The young person with a

diagnosis of an Autistic

Spectrum Condition is funded. There is no minimum age.

Any other family members

are very welcome to come

and bowl as well. Additional people are charged at the rate of £2.50 per person.

We do need you to book

your young persons place in advance please as places are limited. Also let us

know how many additonal people will be bowling.
